Make the right move in life
We are looking forward to the greatest sporting event of the year, the FIFA World Cup 2022 scheduled for 20 November to 2 December 2022. Qatar, the first Arab country to host such a spectacular event of this magnitude, is leaving no stone unturned to make this event the most magnificent and memorable ever! We will be witnessing many winners and losers in the coming days. There may be some least expected young players who might rise to the pinnacle of glory as champions. Some teams might perform beyond all expectations. In contrast, some persons or teams may also go down into oblivion.
A football team reflects our life on Planet Earth. We are all like players in a team. During the game the ball is in our possession for a maximum of three or four minutes on an average out of the 90 minutes of play. What we do with it during those three or four minutes will prove our calibre as players. The great gift of our life is in our possession only for a brief period. We may run up and down the ground but what moves we make and what direction we take determine the kind of life we live. Before every move and every kick there has to be an assessment, a wise decision.
The success of the team is determined by the selflessness which makes us pass the ball to others in the team. We can play a selfish game in our life without a care or concern for others. At the end of the game what will be remembered are the moves we made to help the team to win the game. At the end of our lives too, there are three things that will matter: how much we loved, how gently we lived, and how gracefully we let go of things not meant for us.
Starting the publication of The Teenager Today was a hard decision to make, a difficult step to take for the publishers. But with this Anniversary Issue, as we step into the 60th year of its publication, we feel happy and grateful to its founding fathers, Fathers J. Maurus and Aloysius G. Rego, for the courageous and right step they took. They put their faith not in their talents, time or resources, but in God Almighty and on the goodwill and generosity of the reading public, especially the young. Today, we place on record our gratitude for the selfless contributions of everyone from the least to the greatest and for all that they have been to The Teenager Today, even as we resolve to march forward with confidence and faith!
