Stop touching your face with this NASA-designed necklace
NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab’s (JPL) wearable device does just one thing — reminds you not to touch your face.
Minimizing how often you touch your face can have a big combined effect with other measures, like hand-washing and mask-wearing, to reduce the spread of Covid-19.
The PULSE is a 3-D printed pendant that you wear around your neck like a necklace. It can detect when a person’s hand is approaching their face using an infrared proximity sensor. A vibration motor then shakes out an alert, and the response becomes stronger as your hand gets closer to your face. The design instructions to make the PULSE are available free for anyone on JPL’s site.
