The dark heavens

Whenever anxiety thunders in my head
Whenever my emotions are
As jumbled up as a bird’s nest
Wherever I am feeling lonely or sad
All I have to do is glance at the dark heavens up high.

The stars whisper stories in patterns
That only I can understand.
The beguiling darkness beckons me
To a world of mystery and unknown lands.
The moon sings me to
Dreamlands of hope and joy,
And the twinkling, shining stars remind me
That even in dense darkness one can find
Pinpricks of hope hidden in the sky.

Darkness, my only companion

At present, I have only one companion
— The unknown darkness
Which is everywhere around me.
There’s no light
Only the creepy darkness
Which haunts me like time does.
The hands of the time, I can hear
Running faster than light
Leaving me behind.
Ah! I am a slow runner.
My heart beats without getting tired
And making me realize what life is.
I can hear the faint noises
Coming from my brain
But I pay no heed to them.
The dark blanket wrapped around me
Makes my heart warm.
I can smell the aroma of loneliness
Floating in the air.

By the darkness and the light

I sat outside one starry night
And gazed up at the sky
The moon I saw was full and bright
The stars all scattered by.
And as I gazed, I wondered
How different the world now seemed
For all was dark and quiet
Unlike the gold and the green.
But still as darker grew the night
The golden memory faded
And upon the lashing waves now danced
The silver, calm and shaded.
The night had spread her arms,
For all were deep asleep
When from a distance came
A sigh, a mournful weep.
I sat upright and searched
Not a single soul in sight
But for the dancing waves
All a blur of blue and bright.
I walked towards the shore
Confused and lost in thought
By now the sea was calm
The distant weep too faint.
And then it all made sense;
The night was an escape
Alone, far from the crowd
A place for falling tears and hidden anger
All in hopes to be cured by the darkness and the light.

Darkness can be beautiful

I was in a glass bubble;
Looking through it
I saw a beautiful scene.
It was a place I had never been to.
Night sky was its beauty
I only could see through.
It was all dark and deep.
I looked around to see
It was a miracle
Because I was walking on water.
It illuminates as I walk through
Showing its different shades of blue.
I couldn’t touch it although
Sky was changing colour into blue
I didn’t dare move.
It became darker and darker
The colour of the sky matched the water
I couldn’t identify the horizon altogether.
The only light I could see was the stars
Tiny sparkles against the dark.
I closed my eyes and absorbed my surrounding
I lifted my eyes open and heard my own voice sing
I could see the water reflecting the sky.
Looking like a mirror with a small touch of light
And then I knew that darkness can be beautiful
But only with sparkles of light.

It’s like a dragon engulfing us with fire
Cage of no breakthrough.

Till a tinker of light
Radiates through the
Bleakness of our lives.

Bringing hope
Healing the brokenness
Bringing together the puzzle pieces.

From the ashes
Rises the spirit of a warrior
Ready for battle
Grounded in grace.
Fearless.
Unstoppable.

The dark is a beautiful place

I love darkness. I love it because it conceals; because in darkness, I’m no more a heavy body, an ugly face, and a broken heart; because in darkness, I’m anonymous — completely and totally unknown. No, not mysterious, because people prattle about mysteries even without solving them. I wish to be unknown. I want people to look at me and not recognize me; or even better, don’t see me at all. I want to hide, and live my own adventures with no one to answer to, no one to share my sorrows and joys with, and no one to bond with whatsoever.

Is that too much to ask for?

The dark can recreate you, make you sane again. The dark… it is a beautiful place to be.

Yes, it is. It is, because the world is dying to point out your flaws, and pull the trigger at your most vulnerable insecurities. You’d be a lioness, full of rage and anger, but once they shoot you there, you’ll back down, because that is the failure, written all over you, enunciating the weak in you. They will mock and they will show concern, but they will never look beyond the layer flaws you have. You will let their opinion hover over you and become the ugly chaos you’ve always feared. You will crave loneliness, and when you finally create it, it would become a place you will want to stay in forever. It will bind you and set you free at the same time. You will become a recluse, and you will love being one. The dark can recreate you, make you sane again. The dark… it is a beautiful place to be.
