Amazing Akhil

Akhil Joy with his bottle cap map of India

Akhil Joy, 20, is an international record holder for making the largest political map of India using bottle caps. The map is 146 inches long and 114 inches wide (12.17 feet by 9.5 feet). Akhil used 4,885 discarded bottle caps picked up from shops to make this record-setting map. In his attempt to make it, his friends tried to dissuade him, some ridiculed him, and others even called him mad. But he succeeded with great determination to set three world records at the age of 19.

JINI JOY, Akhil’s sister, speaks to him about this astounding feat.
