Study abroad: Make an informed decision

In a world where political turmoil sometimes seem to dominate the scene and leading politicians talk about building walls around their countries, it would be fair to ask the question — is this the end of international education? And are students going to hesitate to study abroad because of these changing political dynamics? Since nobody can predict the future I look towards history for answers. The day Vasco da Gama set his ship to sail towards an unknown land the die was cast for international trade. Now instead of ships we have multinational companies that seek economy of scale and wish to produce in quantities large enough to supply to consumers the world over. In an economic landscape where a company needs to transcend political boundaries, employees are required who can work together regardless of their politics and religious beliefs. Thus the world will continue to value an employee who can transcend political boundaries and be a global citizen. These economic triggers will continue to fuel international education. It is important therefore to make certain informed decisions and evaluate different options while planning your international career.

Where will you study?

Politically and economically stable economies are more likely to offer you personal safety which is an important criterion. Apart from that also look at countries that are economically thriving as that will imply greater work prospects and industry learning opportunities.
