Mom, Maa, Amma, Umma… no matter in what language you say it, when we hear these words, only one person comes to our mind, the lovely and most admired human in the whole world — our Mother. We all know that the only job, which no one appreciates or gives any importance to, or we can say the job that is unpaid with no holidays, is MOTHERHOOD.

From the day we came into this world till her last breath, she will be there with us at all costs, even sacrificing her sleep, her skills, her health, adjusting herself so that her children can have the best moment of their life. Making a house is an effort of a few months, but turning it into a home takes a lifetime, and our house only becomes a home when our mother is there.

There are no words or article in this world that can describe exactly what motherhood is. Even great poets have tried to express that emotion. To understand that you have to be in that place. As you are reading this, I want you to take a moment and give a tight hug to your loving mom for all the moments she has stood by you.

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of homoeopathy? Just some sugar globules. Or, is it some kind of magic? Or, it’s superstition! Or as most people say, it’s a steroid. We may have also read articles that state that homoeopathy is just a placebo!

Many of us may have tried those sugar globules at least once in our lifetime. Have you ever thought about what those small white globules are? Can they treat diseases? We have also heard people saying that homoeopathy is good for long-term diseases.

Homoeopathy came into being when illnesses were thought to be caused by blood impurities, and techniques like blood-letting and leeching were used to remove contaminated blood from a patient. Trephining, or creating a hole in a patient’s skull to allow the sickness to exit the body, was another kind of therapy.

The Man behind Homeopathy

Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homoeopathy, was a German physician who established a recognized medical practice based on the Law of Similia. The Law of Similarity, often known as Similia Similibus Curatus or Like Cures Like, is the cornerstone of homoeopathy.

Samuel Hahnemann was born in Meissen, Germany, on 10 April 1755. He was his parents’ third child. Samuel’s father was a designer in a porcelain factory who instilled in Samuel excellent principles of what was right and honourable.

The International Kite Festival is a long-standing festival that takes place every year on the 14 January in Gujarat. The season signifies the start of spring and the entry of the Sun into the Makara Rashi. Makar Sankranti is a joyful and delightful occasion. According to the Indian calendar, it marks the day when winter starts giving way to summer, and for the farmers, it signals the return of the Sun and the beginning of the harvest season.

Western India celebrates Uttarayan at this time which symbolizes the awakening of the Gods from their deep sleep. One of the most important festivals observed during this season is the International Kite Festival. People from countries such as Japan, Italy, USA, UK, Canada, Indonesia, Singapore, Brazil, Australia, Malaysia, China, France and others travel to India to take part in the festival. It is an opportunity for people from different parts of the world to showcase their creative and unique innovative kites.

It is believed that the Muslims from Persia brought the concept of kite flying to India. The kings and Nawabs of that era used it to showcase their skills and prowess. What started as a pastime for royalty soon trickled down to the general public. Over time, kite flying became one of Gujarat’s most popular sports. In India, it has now become a two-day public holiday.
