Nidhi Bhanushali of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma fame

She is not just the “Sonu” we all know! There is an identity and individuality behind her name. Born on 16 March 2001, Nidhi Bhanushali started her acting career when she was hardly 11 with television commercials; soon she made her TV debut with the comedy serial, Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma, playing Sonalika or Sonu, the daughter of Atmaram Bhide, and with her charismatic and bubbly on-screen personality she won the hearts of all. But, for her fans and friends she continues to remain the “Sonu” they love. Nidhi is an accomplished Bharatnatyam dancer, as well.

NAZIA SYED met with “Sonu” on behalf of THE TEENAGER TODAY, for a brief interview. Excerpts.

Tell us about the Nidhi the world doesn’t know.
If the world doesn’t know her then the world shouldn’t know. I am a social person; yet I believe in being private. I enjoy my personal space and I don’t like it when it’s intruded upon by anyone. Me time is my favourite time.

How much do you resemble your character?
Well, there are mere resemblances because my character is bubbly, joyful, good at studies; in reality I am an ambivert, choosy, selective, reserved. The on-screen me is like a butterfly, free and open, but the real me is like a caterpillar who enjoys her own soul.

How have you managed living an actor’s life and a normal life?
Well, all I can say is that I know how to balance my time; and time management is everything I believe in; it’s an art one must master. It’s been over 7 years now; so juggling through time is within me.

If not an actor what else would you like to be?
Acting is my passion of being able to express what I feel. But if not an actor I would be a singer or a filmmaker. Singing is another gift I am truly blessed with; I study all the genres of songs so I can master all the spices in the food of music.

Who do you idolize and why?
I don’t particularly idolize anyone because I believe that in different walks of life every person has set a mark beautifully which is inspiring. So I don’t want my mind to be blocked to see the good only in just one person. I believe in adopting the best from everyone for bettering myself.
